Groovin’ Grouper
Groovin’ Grouper is the newest chapter in a long-standing local restaurant legacy. Owned and operated by Venice natives Tom and Mariel, the food truck continues the tradition established by Mariel’s father, Rob Arbuckle, founder of Left Coast Seafood Co. Mariel spent over 20 years working alongside him, helping shape the coastal flavors and warm hospitality the community came to love. Left Coast ultimately closed after the impacts of Hurricane Ian.
Tom, also a Venice local, joined the family restaurant in 2013—but he is no stranger to family entrepreneurship. His father owned Bob’s Motorcycle, a custom Harley shop in Venice that served the community for over 30 years, instilling in Tom a strong foundation of craftsmanship, customer care, and small-business spirit.
Three years after Hurricane Ian—and with the encouragement and hands-on help of their friend Nick—their vision for a mobile seafood kitchen came to life. Together, they launched Groovin’ Grouper to keep the Left Coast spirit rolling… literally.
Groovin’ Grouper proudly serves beloved Left Coast favorites, including the iconic Shrimp Burger and the 4th-generation Admiral’s Fish Chowder—a recipe passed down from Mariel’s grandparents’ restaurant once located at the base of the Albee Road Bridge. Alongside these classics, the truck features new creative dishes that blend tradition with fresh coastal flair.
Rooted in Venice history, family heritage, and a shared passion for great seafood, Groovin’ Grouper is honored to bring both timeless favorites and exciting new flavors back to the community—this time on wheels.
