The Chamber Board of Directors includes a host of talented individuals:
Rodney Thomas is Co-Owner of Bentley’s Boutique Hotel in Osprey. Rod is a qualified mechanical engineer and specialized in air conditioning and building systems. He spent several years in Spain as a marine engineer and delivery skipper in his spare time. In later years, Rod was a Sales Director for Orange ebs Limited, the company that Paul, Carolyn and he operated for 25 years.
Rod has been a keen paraglider, hang glider and micro-light pilot of many years. In 1999, Rod suffered a major canopy collapse at 100 feet above the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Southern Spain. The harrowing experience left him with broken back, pelvis, ribs and wrists, pierced lungs and left leg with his boot attached lying some 30 feet away from his beaten body.
Miraculously, after more than 4 hours on the mountain, Rod survived, thanks to his best friend and business partner, Paul. Rod found himself flying back to the UK where the British surgeons saved his life. “I have flown since but these days my passion has returned to sailing”. Rod is an Ocean Master certificated Captain and currently enjoys sailing his classic Kadey Krogen Cutter, Solitude. Other hobbies include: scuba, skiing and loving life.
His son, Elliott 21 years and daughter, Karlie 26 years, still live in the UK and stay in touch by Skype, phone and British Airways.”Kimmie, my darling wife keeps me grounded; I think she has hidden my glider!”
Bryan Guentner is Broker and manager of RE/MAX Platinum Realty in Osprey, FL. He has offices in Downtown Sarasota, St. Armands Circle of Lido Key, Downtown Venice, and Lakewood Ranch. He has been a Licensed as a Real Estate Broker since 1988, and an agent since 1986. He has managed and owned several real estate brokerage offices in the Sarasota and Brandenton Florida area.He has served as an officer and director of the Sarasota Association of Realtors, director of the Florida Association of Realtors, MLS, Sarpac Chairman, director of the Mid Florida Regional MLS, technology chairman of Florida CRS, and President of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous other county and committee volunteer positions.Bryan lives in Nokomis with his wife and children.
We’ve heard it said, “Home is where the heart is” and Mona finds this statement true for herself and her husband, Red. Their hearts are here in Florida because they found this little piece of paradise called Osprey and Nokomis where it is easy to meet the best of the best, including many very dear friends.
Mona and Red moved to Osprey in 1997 and shortly thereafter started their own professional car detailing service called, Red’s Expert Detailing, located in Nokomis.
Mona looks back on her life with appreciation for all the places she has traveled, both home and abroad, as well as, all the accomplishments she has achieved throughout her diverse career paths, including 3 years in the U.S. Army. Now she looks forward to participating with the Osprey Nokomis Chamber of Commerce, helping to further its legacy and legend within the heart and spirit of the community.
Tony Clements is the Park Manager of Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, Florida. Tony started his career in the park service as a volunteer at Oscar Scherer state Park in 1993 and worked his way up from the ground floor. He also lived in Edmonds, Washington for 6 years where he worked as a park ranger at Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland park.
Tony has a passion for the environment and takes pride in making your park a great place to connect with nature while providing healthy habitat for its amazing plants and animals. Tony lives in paradise (Oscar Scherer State park) with wife Katherine and 2 children.
Joseph Dobzynski Sr. is the Executive Producer of the Radio Ear Network Global Community Project and the Director of Innovation for Amanatee Group LLC. As part of the REN team since its inception he has moved the project into a global media concept providing the voices of communities to be heard. He has produced over 2,500 shows in 5 years for I-Radio, the Public Radio Exchange marketplace for distribution and licensing of public radio programming and small community radio stations.
Previously he was Corporate Project Director for Apex Interactive, an independent technology and management-application development group that specializes in early product development for companies, Web Site Administrator for Tenneco Automotive and Corporate Director of Operations for the Chianti Restaurant Group.
